Malaysia dengue and chikungunya update
Dengue
During the week ending December 3, Malaysia health authorities reported 1,935 additional dengue cases compared to 1,734 during the previous week, which is an increase of 201 cases (11.6%).
Dengue symptoms/Malaysia Health Ministry
A total of two deaths due to dengue fever complications were reported that week.
The cumulative number of dengue fever cases reported to date is as many as 58,239 cases compared to 24,049 cases for the same period in 2021 which is an increase of 34,190 cases (142.2%), while there were 39 deaths due to dengue complications reported compared to 19 deaths for the period the same in 2021, which is an increase of 20 deaths (105.3%).
Chikungunya
Chikungunya surveillance recorded 21 cases in the week ending December 3 with 20 cases from Penang and one case from Selangor.The cumulative number of chikungunya cases are now 731 year to date.

Sierra Leone – Yellow Fever
The World Health Organization reports a suspected case of yellow fever (YF), a 67-year-old male farmer resident of Kono District, Eastern Province, Sierra Leone, tested positive for YF by plaque reduction
neutralization test (PRNT) at Institut Pasteur in Dakar on 19 October 2022.
The onset of symptoms was on 25 May 2022 with fever. Investigation carried out from 5 to 6 November 2022 showed that he is unvaccinated against YF and that other signs and symptoms included history of severe generalized body pain, muscle cramps, and jaundice.
No additional suspected cases were found during active case finding in the surrounding health facilities and in the community. The patient fully recovered after treatment in the health facility and has since resumed his normal farming activities. According to WHO and UNICEF estimates (WUENIC), YF vaccination coverage was 85% in Sierra Leone in 2021.
Yellow fever is an acute viral hemorrhagic fever that is spread through the bites of infected mosquitoes.
Nepal Dengue
Nepal dengue fever update

The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) in Nepal reported today an update on dengue fever in the country for 2022.
As of December 11, 2022 a total of 54,232 dengue cases have been identified, with Bagmati province reporting highest number (42143) followed by Lumbini province (4984) and Province-1 (2249).
The top 10 districts have reported the highest number of cases (45,234, 84%), with sporadic cases reported from other district. Out of the top 10 districts reporting dengue cases, the highest numbers of cases are being reported from Kathmandu (14165), Lalitpur (9614), Bhaktapur (6145), Makawanpur (5830), Chitwan (3188), Dang (2405), Dhading (1678) and Rupandehi (1203).
T0 date, 67 deaths due to dengue are verified.
In Nepal, dengue is a rapidly emerging disease. Vector surveillance conducted in three districts: Dang, Lalitpur and Kathmandu has demonstrated presence of the vector Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. All 4 dengue serotypes exist in Nepal, with DENV-1 and 2 historically contributing the highest burden.
Vietnam – Dengue

Vietnam health officials reported an additional 10,000 dengue fever cases in the past week, bringing the cumulative total countrywide to 335,333 cases.
To date, the country has recorded 123 deaths from dengue fever. Compared to the same period in 2021, the number of cases increased by 4.9 times, the number of deaths increased by 98 cases.

Manufacturing will be done in our Pune facility.
